A Year ago, East Ayrshire Cohort 3 Started their Net Zero Journey, Supported by East Ayrshire Council and Scottish Enterprise, based at the HALO Urban Regeneration centre in Kilmarnock.
Today was a day of celebration presenting Foundation Certificates to the companies graduating Year 1.
These companies now have a clearly defined pathway towards Net Zero aligned with the Science Based Targets to help mitigate the worst effects of climate change.
These organisations have travelled quite a distance since starting their Net Zero journey a year ago. East Ayrshire Council and Scottish Enterprise provided the support to help run this Accelerator program at the Halo in Kilmarnock.
These are some of the things they had to say;
"Positive progress, new prospects, new adventures, opportunity to collaborate with new businesses"
"We now have a process within the organisation to gather and analyse the data to then set objectives for improvement"
"We now have a better understanding of how to cut our emissions"
"When it came net zero, we knew very little and didn't understand the concepts or the terminology. Now we are aware and making an active effort to change"
"Now feeling like we are ahead of the game for once!"
"Working within a group of people who didn’t know how to start either had made this process easier and less isolating if we had done it by ourselves"
"The most positive part has been the support available during the year from the team of amazing experts with incredible knowledge and support"
"Now we have confidence that we have the correct sustainability information and a credible plan to submit in our future tenders"
These organisations have joined the wider East Ayrshire Ecosystem which is rapidly growing and a subset of hundreds of SMEs mobilised through the Net Zero Nation movement
We are looking forward to seeing these organisations continue their Net Zero Pathway and become stronger and more credible with their customers, partners and local community.
